MOUNT VERNON — A Knox Pages reader asked the newsroom if any paper shredding events were occurring in Knox County shortly.
The short answer is: Yes.
Paper Shredding Events Coming Soon
Knox County Recycling & Litter Prevention, along with CES Credit Union, is hosting a free shredding event on Saturday, June 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the parking lot of the Knox County Court House & Servicer Center (119 E. Chestnut St.)
The event may end earlier if the loading truck is filled.
CES Credit Union team members will be available to assist and unload up to three boxes of documents (approximately the size of a copier paper box or laundry basket.) The event doesn’t recommend bringing trash bags.
- Staples and paper clips may remain in the paperwork but remove covers, three-ring binders or other office supplies.
- No batteries, large metal objects or electronic devices. No moldy or damp papers.
- No syringes, food, glass, ink cartridges, toner, hanging folders, hard drives, electrical items or nuts & bolts.
The Village of Gambier is currently collecting paper for shredding until May 2 at the community center. The shredded paper will be sent off on May 3. Village officials will observe the shredding process, village administrator R.C. Wise said.
