MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher found 23 people guilty after hearings were conducted this week at the Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

These were the cases brought forward by Mount Vernon Law Director P. Robert Broeren Jr.’s Office.

Jan. 2

Penny Thurston, 56, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of criminal mischief.

Marion Carpenter, 49, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of theft.

Christopher Ballard, 37, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing official business.

Jared Farabaugh, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of disorderly conduct in the presence of EMS personnel and theft.

Andrew Hess, 34, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of failure to confine animal.

Brock Miller, 25, of Howard, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drug of abuse.

Ron Tynes, 49, of Columbus, was found guilty of speeding in a school zone.

Brett Hunnicut, 36, of Bellville, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle under a license forfeiture suspension and improper display of a license plate.

Reid Strack, 28, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of speeding.

First Assistant Law Director Brittany Whitney prosecuted the Thurston case and Assistant Law Director Steve Potts prosecuted all the other cases on behalf of the City Mount Vernon, the State of Ohio, and the Villages of Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown and Gambier.

Jan. 3

Stephen Farley, 43, of Glenmont, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a drug of abuse.

Assistant Law Director Steve Potts prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Ohio.

Jan. 5

Stephen Deshong, 37, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of obstructing official business, possession of drug abuse instruments.

Elijah Desich, 43, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of arson.

Eric Cooke, 45, of Heiskell, TN, was found guilty of deer permit violation.

Rodney Shrimplin, 58, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and without headlights.

Angela Riccio, 45, of Heath, was found guilty of speeding.

Jordan Lang, 21, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle without an operator’s license.

Jamie Parker, 27, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of criminal mischief.

Dylan Kipp, 33, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Sergio Garcia, 61, of Guadalajara, Mexico, was found guilty of speeding.

Robert Wirick, 34, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle under an FRA suspension and expired plates.

Nicholas Nelson, 20, of North Chesterfield, VA, was found guilty of speeding.

Matthias Mizer, 26, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of failure to stop after a motor vehicle accident and improperly starting or backing a motor vehicle.

Patrik White, 19, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle with expired plates.

First Assistant Law Director Brittany Whitney prosecuted the Desich and Garcia cases and Assistant Law Director Steve Potts prosecuted all the other cases on behalf of the City of Mount Vernon, the State of Ohio, and the Villages of Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown and Gambier.
