Edna Mae Stull, age 101, passed away peacefully at her home on December 30, 2023. Born January 23, 1922, to William and Bertha Croul near Nellie, Ohio, Edna was very proud of her advanced age and would let everyone know it. But true to her positive outlook, she would also add that she still felt great.

Edna came to Mount Vernon in 1940 to work as a caregiver. During WWII, Edna supported the war effort by working at Shalimar to make gas capes. Edna married Edwin Stull on June 22, 1946, and together they farmed 115 acres and participated in many ministries both in the church and in the community.

Edna’s generous and loving spirit was a blessing to so many throughout her long life – her life’s mission was to give love and time to those who needed a grandma figure, including the children in the toddler’s classroom at Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene, Mount Vernon Nazarene (then College) University students who appreciated a home-cooked meal, the members of the Golden Fellowship, residents of nearby nursing homes that listened to Edna play the accordion, and numerous faraway locations she visited as part of mission trips. She was a member of Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene, but after she stopped driving, she attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Berean Faith Fellowship, New Life Church of the Nazarene, and Christ the King Community Church with family and neighbors.

Edna was quite the farmer – she milked the cows, drove the grain truck to the feed mill, and took after intrusive black snakes with a hoe. She kept a remarkable garden; her produce was eaten fresh, turned into pickles or relish, or canned. Edna was also a well-known cook, her meals and recipes appreciated by many.

Edna leaves a legacy of light and love with all that knew her. She chose to live her life with an ever-present attitude of positivity and gratitude. Always quick to laugh, she found joy in her life. Her quiet but evident faith was her cornerstone and guidepost. Edna was generous in spirit but also in material gifts, always ready to offer help to those in need. Her nature was a unique blend of sweet and feisty; she was quick to demonstrate her love for others but had enough spunk to live a life full of adventures for over a century.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Jeanie Teal, sons-in-law George Teal and Jeff Tobin, and grandson Billy Teal.

She will be missed by daughters Betty Wade and Carolyn Tobin, grandchildren Jenny Teal, Michael Teal, Christopher Wade, Laura Davis, and great grandchildren Will Teal, Kaylee Davis, and Amelia Davis.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Pastor Gordy Harmon and Pastor Lucian Baker will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capital City Hospice at 2800 Corporate Exchange Drive, Columbus, OH 43231 or capitalcityhospice.com.
