MILLWOOD- Endsley, George “Earl”, age 88 of Howard Ohio, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday morning, November 8, 2023.  Earl, as he is known to his friends, was born in Millwood on February 20, 1935 to Clayton and Mabel (Daugherty) Endsley who preceded him in death along with his wife Connie (Toland) Endsley, his first wife, Martha Leona “Lee” (Reigle) Endsley, and his sister Eileen Summerfield.

In his younger years, Earl worked hard on the family farm.  Soon after, he became a heavy equipment operator for a construction company building many miles of the interstate highways in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania that we drive on today.  Later, Earl became quite a successful owner of many businesses. He was part owner in Bill Beatty Drilling, and sole owner of E&B Dozing, Endsley Trucking and the Derrick Inn where he enjoyed time with Connie and one of his favorite past-times shooting pool.  In his final working years he was employed by the Drexel J. Thrash Training Center in Millwood until his retirement in 2002 culminating a total of over 52 years of working. But Earl also enjoyed life.  In addition to shooting pool, Earl was an avid racing fan and enjoyed building his own dirt racers or watching NASCAR races on the weekend.  Naturally, he enjoyed getting in the car to travel just about any place, both familiar and new and could cite directions to cities all over the country. But mostly he just enjoyed taking a ride or going to get breakfast with family.  Otherwise, you could find him in his garage where he loved building or fixing things for anyone that needed his help.

Earl is survived by his 7 children, Donald (Suzi, past) Endsley, Ronald Endsley, Mike (Diana) Endsley, Catrina (Regis) Fowler, Peggy Endsley, Jeff (Jaime) Endsley and Melissa (Mike) Lowe; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a sister, Helen Beatty.  Earl will always be remembered as a reserved and humble gentleman with a big heart and a grin that showed when he was glad to see you.  We look forward to the time when those memories become reality, when we will see him again.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 15, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville.  Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery.  Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Donations in Earl’s name can be made to Gentiva Hospice (gentivahs.com/about/donate); The Cancer Center at KCH (foundationkch.org/donate); or The Cleveland Clinic (my.clevelandclinic.org/giving)
