MOUNT VERNON — New Directions, a prominent domestic violence and rape crisis shelter and prevention organization in Knox County, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lindsey Lamp as its fifth Executive Director.
In this new capacity, Lindsey will focus on providing leadership, direction, and administration to all aspects of New Directions activities, ensuring accomplishment of its objectives and execution of its mission.
Lamp has been employed by New Directions for over five years, previously serving as the Director of Programs where she provided strategic oversight of New Directions’ prevention and outreach programming in collaboration with New Directions’ prevention team.
As a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon, Lamp has worked in the social service field for over 15 years. Lindsey is a dynamic, community-minded individual who uses education and engagement as a means to empower others in seeking their full potential by uplifting their strengths; something she plans to continue in this new role.
“I am surrounded by encouraging, empowered co-workers, who are leading the way across the state, centering survivors in innovative ways, and I am eager to uplift their efforts as we look to achieve our future goals together,” she said.
New Directions provides comprehensive resources for the safety, healing and freedom of individuals who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault while also offering preventative education to create an informed and supportive community.
New Directions envisions a community of empowered individuals engaging in safe, respectful and healthy relationships.
Lamp strives to maintain New Directions’ vision by, “prioritizing the safety and security of survivors as we support their journey through complex trauma.”
