CENTERBURG — The Danville football team is picking up steam, and the blowouts are starting to multiply.
The fourth-ranked Blue Devils took their act on the road Friday night, and blasted Centerburg 52-22 in a Knox Morrow Athletic Conference encounter.
The loss snapped the Trojans’ three-game winning streak.
Danville (8-0 overall, 5-0 in the KMAC) dominated with a brutal ground attack, which collected 363 yards on 31 carries, gouging out better than 10 yards per crack.
Running back Cole Delaughder, the KMAC rushing leader, racked up 183 yards on 23 carries and now has 1,039 on the season.
Quarterback Walker Weckesser chipped in 115 yards on 17 attempts.
Coach Matt Blum’s bunch took control from the very beginning.
Danville raced to a 22-0 first-quarter lead and opened a 38-8 gap at halftime.
The second half began with a running clock and the Blue Devils enjoyed a 46-14 bulge heading to the final 12 minutes.
Danville can clinch at least a share of the KMAC title next week with a victory at Mount Gilead.
Centerburg slips to 4-4, 3-2. The Trojans travel to Northmor on Friday night.
