MOUNT VERNON — Habitat for Humanity of Knox County Ohio announces an upcoming open housing application period, inviting individuals and families in need of affordable housing to apply for homeownership opportunities.

The application period runs from Oct.1 to Nov. 1 and provides eligible individuals a chance to secure stable and affordable housing in Knox County.

The affiliate will host Q&A sessions via Zoom Oct. 2-5 at 5 p.m. The link for the Zoom sessions is available online at www.hfhknoxoh.org/what-we-do and posted on Facebook and Instagram pages.

Individuals unable to attend can contact the office to schedule a meeting with the affiliate director. Individuals are not required to attend a session to submit an application.

Habitat for Humanity of Knox County Ohio has been dedicated to its mission of providing safe and decent housing for families in the community for many years. This open application period represents a significant step in continuing the commitment to building stronger, more vibrant communities.

Successful applicants have the opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity to build their own homes. They’ll put in “sweat equity” alongside dedicated volunteers and take homeownership and financial literacy classes. They can purchase their new home from Habitat with a zero percent or low-interest mortgage to make homeownership an achievable dream.

“We are thrilled to be able to kick off another cycle to community members who are looking for affordable housing solutions in Knox County,” said Terry Schulz, affiliate director of Habitat for Humanity of Knox County Ohio. “We believe everyone deserves a safe, stable and affordable place to call home. Through this open application period, we hope to bring that dream to reality for deserving families in our community.”

Eligibility

Applicants must meet specific income guidelines, demonstrate a need for affordable housing, and be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity in the home-building process. Habitat bases the selection process on a fair and impartial review of all qualified applications.

Printed application forms will also be available during regular business hours at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore located at 13246 Wooster Road in Mount Vernon.
