How the front porch series came to be
The concept for this series was conceived when Joe and Marty Bell teamed up with the organizers of the “hometown series” at the Woodward Theater. In its entirety, the committee consists of the Bell’s, Jeff Williams and Courtney DeCosky, Sarah Goslee Reed, and Jim Coffield.
Their idea of bringing performances to people’s front porches garnered enthusiasm from local artists, creating an event that surpassed expectations. With the support of the city, Mayor Matt Starr, and local authorities, the series found its footing.
The success of the series, gathering around 300 attendees for the first event, led to High Street being closed off for the July event to ensure safety.
As the curtains close on this year’s edition, the organizers already have their sights set on the future.
The community-driven nature of the event has extended to inviting local artists and vendors to display their visual art, further enhancing the event’s inclusive atmosphere.
The series to continues to unite through music
The Front Porch Concert Series isn’t just about music; it’s about fostering connections and nurturing a sense of community. It’s a platform for musicians to leave traditional venues and perform in a unique setting.
