MOUNT VERNON — Two Knox County products have been awarded 2023 scholarships in agriculture courtesy of the Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange 847 of Mount Vernon.
The $500 award is given to a high school senior who will be entering a college or university in the fall, majoring in agriculture or a related field.
This year the organization has chosen two scholarship winners, both recent graduates of Mount Vernon High School.
Leah Gourley, of Mount Vernon, is the daughter of Mickey and Bitsi Gourley.
She will be attending The University of Findlay, majoring in Animal Science, Pre- Veterinary Medicine. She has been involved with FFA., 4-H, girls tennis, and the Hopewell United Methodist Church.
John Humphrey, of Centerburg, is the son of Dave and Aimee Humphrey. He will be attending Bowling Green State University, majoring in Environmental Science, Sustainability.
He has been involved with choir, band, Spanish and drama clubs, Boy Scouts (Eagle rank), 4-l, and Lifepoint Church.
Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange is a Fraternal organization, organized in 1874 for the advancement of agriculture, and promoting fellowship and community service.
