James "Jim" H. Fridrich

James (Jim) H. Fridrich, age 79 of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 21st after a short illness. Jim was a devout Catholic.  He practiced his faith daily and his family, friends, and strangers alike benefitted from his many acts of kindness

Jim was the devoted husband of Mary (Collins) for 46 yrs.  He was an amazing father to Pamela (Timothy) Smith and William Fridrich; cherished grandfather to Nicholas, Matthew, Cameron, Caitlin, Brianna, and Brooklynn. Beloved brother of Lois (Ken) Kodger, Richard (Ann) Fridrich, and George (Nancy) Fridrich and much-loved brother-in-law to the Collins family.  He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Marion Fridrich, sister-in-law Ann Fridrich, brother George Fridrich and grandson Joey Hoffman.

Jim lived in Ohio his entire life.  He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree and the University of New Hampshire with a Master’s. Jim was always a hard worker, beginning at Fridrich Moving and Storage Company alongside his father and grandfather.  

He worked for the Knox County Health Dept as a Sanitarian for 25 years, but Jim’s real passion was farming.  For nearly 50 years, he grew fruits and vegetables at Knox Berry Farm.   He loved visiting with his customers on the farm and at the Mount Vernon Farmers Market.  

Calling hours will be at Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High Street on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM.  A prayer service will follow the visitation.

 Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 303 E High St, Mt Vernon OH 43050, on Thursday at 10 o’clock. Father Mark Hammond as the Celebrant. Luncheon following Mass at the church office. There will be a private burial at a later date.                           

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St Vincent de Paul School scholarship fund at 206 E Chestnut St, Mt Vernon, OH 43050.
