MOUNT VERNON — Public tips helped Mount Vernon police arrest a man charged with felonious assault hours after after a Thursday morning incident.

Christopher Haven, 25, was arrested after the MVPD police posted on its Facebook page that he was “wanted in connection with an assault that occurred in the early morning hours of July 21.”

Haven, whose address is listed in court records at 204 W. Curtis St. in Mount Vernon, was near North Sandusky Street, according to the social media post.

He was apprehended in the afternoon on the city’s north side, according to police Chief Robert Morgan said, who credited public tips.

Bond was set at $10,000 cash Friday morning during a bond hearing in Mount Vernon Municipal Court. Haven not had been released from jail as of Friday afternoon.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 1. 

An initial police report from the case said officers were dispatched to a potential stabbing in the 200 block of West Curtis Street.

The injured individual was transported to Knox Community Hospital. He was treated and later released, Morgan said. The extent of the injuries were not made public.
