FREDERICKTOWN — Fredericktown Local Schools’ board of education has narrowed its superintendent search to two candidates.

The board conducted the first round of interviews in executive session the evenings of March 28 and 31.

“As far as the candidate list goes I am unable to share that information with anyone at this time,” board president Paul Napier said. “Once we get the reference checks completed we will be sharing this information with the community.

“Our hope is on or before the Board Meeting on the 12th.”

On April 19, the board will host an event for community members to hear from the two final candidates.

Community members can submit questions to the candidates by emailing Napier at pnapier@fredschools.com, or dropping off questions to administrative assistant Sonya Overholt in the board office. Either must be done a week before the event, by Tuesday, April 12, at noon.

On April 19, the first candidate will meet and talk with community members from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. The second candidate will meet and talk with community members from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.

Community members will be asked to submit feedback after the respective candidate meetings, which the board will take into consideration for deliberations, Napier said.

The board will meet in executive session both before and after the community meetings for a second round of interviews with the two finalists and decision deliberations.

The board does not yet have a set date regarding when it will make its final superintendent decision, but Napier said the intention is to bring a candidate for board approval in May.
