Feb. 28
- Boyd E. Singer was backing up on E. High St. after missing the turn onto Potwin St. Benjamin Delph was traveling west on E. High St. Singer struck Delph. Singer was cited for unsafe backing.
Mar. 3
- William R. Columber was traveling west on James St. and failed to stop for the stop sign at James and N. Sandusky streets, He traveled through the intersection, leaving the roadway and colliding with a house before coming to rest.
- Rodrigo Barauna and Rickie L. Carper were traveling north on Newark Rd. Carper stopped for the red light at Mount Vernon Ave.. Barauna failed to stop striking Carper in the rear end. Barauna was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
Incident Reports
Feb. 28
- An officer responded to the MVPD where a complainant wanted to report a theft. A statement was obtained from the complainant. The alleged stolen property was located at the complainant’s residence. A mental health assessment was completed at the scene and the subject was subsequently “pink slipped” and transported to Knox Community Hospital for evaluation. The investigation has been closed.
- An officer was flagged down by an employee of a W. High St. business concerning a theft that had occurred a few days earlier. As theofficer was leaving, the suspect showed up and the officewr was able to issue a summons to the suspect.
- An officer was dispatched to a Coshocton Ave. business concerning an abandoned vehicle. The officer spoke with the complainant and placed a four-hour-wait on the vehicle. The officer was unable to contact the registered owner. After four hours, a wrecker was called and the vehicle was towed to the Mount Vernon City Impound Lot. Towing and storage fees will apply.
Mar.1
- An officer responded to a Newark Red. Business on a report of a customer trying to use a counterfeit ten dollar bill to pay for a purchase. Crew members told the customer to pull ahead in the drive through to wait for the order. An employee then called the police. When the officer arrived he spoke to the customer who was directed to a nearby parking space. When the officer made contact with the customer he requested to see the counterfeit bill. The customer said the bill was part of a repaid loan made to a friend. The officer advised the customer of the complaint and read him the Miranda Warning before the customer made a voluntary statement. The counterfeit bill was taken and placed into evidence at the MVPD.
- An officer was dispatched to a disturbance at an apartment on Shalimar Dr. When the officer arrived, he could hear loud talking and even louder TV noise. After knocking, the noise went silent and after several more minutes of knocking contact was made with a male occupant. A summons was issued to the male for disorderly conduct.
- An officer was informed of a traffic violation at S. Adams and W. Vine streets. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the operator who was unaware of the violation. K9 Lola indicated narcotics had recently been in the vehicle. The passenger was arrested for probation violation and issued a summons for drug paraphernalia.

- Officers were dispatched to a room at a Coshocton Ave. motel on a report of theft. The complainant said keys and a cordless phone had been taken. Contact was made and a report written.

- An officer was dispatched to N. Gay Syt. In reference to a theft.
