Crash Report
Dec. 28
- Denise K. Gallwitz and John C. Wharton were traveling east on Coshocton Ave. Wharton stopped for traffic ahead. Gallwitz was following Wharton and failed to stop striking him in the rear end. Gallwitz was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
- Ricky L. Knuckles, Sr. was backing out of a driveway. A vehicle belonging to Elaine L. Blake was parked facing south on Mansfield Ave. Knuckles backed into Blake’s vehicle striking the front left corner of the vehicle.
Dec. 29
- Michael E. Shaheen was traveling west and began to turn south onto Teryl Dr. from Eastwood Dr., striking Theresa Fraser who was proceeding eastbound. Fraser was transported by EMS to Knox Community Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
- Kevin J. Cox was traveling west on Coshocton Ave. at N. Division St. Brent A. Lasater was traveling east on Coshocton Ave. at N. Division St. Cox attempted to make a left-hand turn onto N. Division St. and collided in the intersection with the rear left bumper of Lasater. Cox was cited for failure to yield right of way when turning left.
- Bradly W. Talbot was backing from a parking spot in a parking lot on Coshocton Ave. He failed to see Jodi A. Tidrick parked behind him and collided with the vehicle in the front passenger door and mirror.
Dec. 31
- Tara L. Shisler and Peggy A. Haller-Milam were westbound on Coshocton Ave., Haller-Milam stopped for stalled traffic. Shisler failed to stop and struck her in the rear. Shisler was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
- Sophia I. Hart was attempting to enter Coshocton Ave. from Taco Bell. He pulled in front of Van L. Payne and was struck. Hart was cited for failure to yield right of way when entering a roadway.
- Susan T. Krick was traveling east on Coshocton Ave. and attempted to turn south onto Upper Gilchrist Rd. She failed to maintain her lane and struck David J. Miglin, who was stopped facing north on Upper Gilchrist Rd.
Incident Report
Dec. 28
- Two officers responded to Mallard Pt. On a report of domestic violence. When they arrived they spoke to the victim who indicated the suspect smashed his car window and discharged a firearm. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended. The suspect was transported to the Knox County Jail.
- While officers were handling a call on Mallard Pt. the complainant indicated a vehicle that did not belong there was parked in his driveway. After failing to contact the owner, the car was towed to the Mount Vernon Impound Lot. Proof of ownership and payment of fees will be required to retrieve the vehicle.
- An officer responded to a Coshocton Ave. business on a report of theft of personal property. The suspect is unknown at this time and this report will be updated if any new information arises.
Dec. 29
- Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of W. High St. for a disturbance. When they arrived they spoke with the complainant who said she woke up to the sound of the suspect and her brother-in-law arguing in the front door of her home. She said her brother-in-law closed the front door and the suspect kicked the door causing the glass panel to fall out. The suspect left the residence as the complainant called 9-1-1. A statement was collect and this report is being forwarded to the City Law Directors Office for review for charges.
- An officer responded to a Coshocton Ave. business on a fraud complaint. The officer confiscated a counterfeit $100 bill and obtained a written statement from the victim. A description of the suspect was obtained. The investigation is active and will be updated as it proceeds.
- Dispatch advised a vehicle was sitting unoccupied in the middle of the intersection on E. High St near Public Square. When the officer arrived, he observed a dark-colored vehicle facing south and completely blocking the eastbound lane of E. High St. The driver’s door was open and there were no keys in the car. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to contact the owner.
Dec. 30
- An officer was dispatched to Shalimar Dr. in reference to a disturbance. When he arrived he spoke with the individuals and determined the male suspect was intoxicated. The officer spoke with the male suspect’s probation officer who said to place a holder on him. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the Knox County Jail.
- An officer responded to the MVPD on a burglary complaint. The investigation is active and will be updated as it proceeds.
- A male victim came to the MVPD to file a report regarding vandalism to his vehicle. A report was taken. The suspect is unknown at this time and no charges were filed.
Dec. 31
- An officer responded to E. Hamtramck St. on a vandalism complaint. The suspect is unknown at this time.
- An officer was dispatched to Foundation Park on a report of a vehicle in a field. The officer located the vehicle and owner. A report was taken and forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor.
- An officer was dispatched to N. Sandusky St. in reference to a domestic violence situation. When the officer arrived he spoke with the individuals involved and they advised they were having an argument. Charges were filed.
Jan. 1
- At approximately 1:14 AM an officer was dispatched to Sychar Rd in reference to property damage due to the weather.
- An officer responded to a Newark Rd. business in reference to a shoplifting complaint. The investigation is closed pending further information.

- Alicia Jones, 22, Roosevelt Ave. was arrested for littering from a motor vehicle.
- Paul Whipps, 25, Columbus, was cited for driving under suspension/revocation.
- She Skaggs, 27, Danville, was charged with criminal mischief.
- Dewey Ballinger, 33, N. Main St. was cited for no operator’s license.
