Jon M. Cleary, 75, of Mount Vernon was charged at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday for menacing by stalking at a Coshocton Avenue restaurant. Bryan P. Lamb, 27, of Mount Vernon was cited at 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday for driving under a suspended license.

Accidents:  Just after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dorothy Gallagher, 85 of Mount Vernon was heading southbound on Spice Alley in her 2007 Chevy Impala, preparing to turn left onto E.  Gambier Street.  Jeanne Ralston, 84, of Mount Vernon was heading eastbound on E. Gambier Street in her 2008 Chevy Aveo.  Gallagher failed to yield as she entered the roadway and struck Ralston’s vehicle, causing it to lose control, veer west of the center line, and strike an oncoming 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by Tate VanFossen, 17, of Homer.  Several of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene and Gallagher was cited for the incident.

At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Gail Cline, 49, of Mount Vernon was travelling eastbound on Coshocton Avenue near Hilltop Drive in her 1999 Pontiac Grand Am.  Kathleen A. Duckwall, 57, of Mount Vernon was immediately behind him in her 1999 Mercury Marquis.  When Cline slowed for traffic, Duckwall failed to follow suit and rear-ended her vehicle.  Duckwall was cited for the incident.

Just after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Beverly Stockberger, 63, of Utica was heading southbound on Foundry Street in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and attempted to turn left onto Mount Vernon Avenue.  When she did so, she was struck by a 2005 Mitsubishi Expo driven by Michaela Sommer Dowell, 16, of Mount Vernon, who was heading westbound on Mount Vernon Avenue. 

Incidents:  At 12:16 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at Pat Catan’s store.  A suspect was identified and a Cricket Expression—valued at $179.97—was recovered.

At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, an officer responded to a report of shoplifting at the Wal-Mart.  A suspect was identified and $44.97 worth of merchandise—including a 50’ water hose and some Dawn detergent—were recovered.  A surveillance video was collected as evidence.

At 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a theft complaint at a residence on the 800-block of W. Vine Street. The missing items included a credit card, a driver’s license, several Social Security cards and $700.00 in cash.  A suspect was identified.

Just before 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, an officer responded to a report of shoplifting at Kroger.  Several bottles of alcohol were recovered and a suspect was identified.

At 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a report of shoplifting at the Kroger.  A suspect was identified and $679.44 worth of energy drinks and soda pop was recovered.  A surveillance DVD was collected as evidence.

Just before 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, an officer collected an Ohio license-plate found on the 100-block of N. Sandusky Street.
