Mara Mason left everything on the stage during her vocal performance Friday night for the 2019 Miss Ohio Scholarship Competition at the Renaissance Theatre Mason, 22, of Columbus, won first place in the talent competition for her rendition of "Think Of Me," Andrew Lloyd Weber's Phantom of the Opera.


Mount Vernon Nazarene University broke ground on its $2.7 million soccer and lacrosse stadium Monday. The overall complex, located on the north edge of campus, will contain five grass fields and one turf field. It will be used by local athletes at all levels.


Four Highland Scots competed at the OHSAA Track and Field Championships this weekend in Columbus. Brock Veley placed seventh in the 100-meter dash, while Jack Weaver finished ninth in the 200. The 4x100-meter relay team of Veley, Landyn Albanese, Chase Carpenter and Weaver placed sixth with a time of 43.06 seconds.

The Bellville Street Fair has announced the return of the “Pumpkin Growing Competition” to its lineup of agricultural contests for the 2019 World’s Fair held in September. Last fall approximately 15 people entered pumpkins into the fair for the competition and winners took home $1,150 in prize money.
