MOUNT VERNON -- After enormous success with the annual fundraising event, Power of the Purse, Women United, an affinity group of United Way of Knox County, has announced the ability to invest $50,000 into programming in Knox County.

Women United supports programming that directly affects the lives of women and children.

"The founders of Women United want our members to be the eyes and ears in our community, looking for projects that impact the lives of our friends and neighbors in Knox County," the organization said in a press release Thursday.

"Do you have an idea for a project? Do you think that Women United might be interested in funding it? Have you been in recent conversation when someone mentioned a need in Knox County? Is there a cause for which you feel passionately?" the release said.

Those interested must complete the Women United grant application to be considered for funding for a project to take place between August 2019 to August 2020. Projects funded in 2018- 2019 must submit a current application to be considered for 2019-2020 investment.

Grant applications must include the name of a supporting Women United member to be considered. The Women United Founders Council will review all grant applications and make funding recommendations to the United Way of Knox County Board of Directors for final approval.

Applications are being accepted now through July 4. To access the online application, visit this link: https://www.uwayknox.org/women-united-grant-application.
