MOUNT VERNON – The 32nd Annual Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival will be held Thursday through Sunday in downtown Mount Vernon. Festival activities will result in several street closings.
On Wednesday at 5 pm, the Public Square will close for the set-up of the food concessions and the main stage. At 7 pm, South Main Street from Public Square to Ohio Avenue will shut down, as well as Vine and Gambier streets from Gay to Mulberry. All streets will remain closed as the festival continues throughout the weekend. Detours will be posted and enforced by the City of Mount Vernon.
These streets remain closed on Sunday for the annual car show, but in a slight change this year, Mulberry, Mechanic and West High streets will remain open. All festival streets will re-open late Sunday evening when the festival ends and after the clean-up is completed (approximately 10 pm).
Limited handicapped-accessible parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in several locations. North Main Street between Public Square and Chestnut Street will be available for accessible parking Thursday through Saturday. The city parking garage has three levels, one entrance from Gay Street between High and Chestnut streets. Two additional levels are available off of Chestnut Street to Blackberry Alley (normally one-way from Public Square, but made two-way during the festival). There is also limited accessible parking on West High Street between Public Square and Mulberry Street on Thursday through Saturday.
The Dan Emmett Antique and Classic Car and Motorcycle show has been moved back to Public Square, so accessible parking will only be available in the city parking garage on Sunday. Knox Area Transit (KAT) buses will shuttle guests to and from outer area locations during festival hours.
This year’s festival is made possible through the contributions of Ariel Corp. and First-Knox National Bank. For additional information, contact the festival at (740) 392-FEST (3378) or email at email@example.com.
