MOUNT VERNON -- Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher sentenced 13 people in his courtroom this week after listening to the following cases:

July 8

Rochelle L. Aikens, 50, of Columbus, was found guilty of two counts of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced her to pay a $200 fine for each count.

Christian Clifton, 44, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence and Violating a Protection Order. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days for the Domestic Violence charge. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete the Court’s Hands Down program for the TPO Violation charge.

John P. Hays, 46, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft by Deception. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days.

Alex R. Sapp, 23, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Having Physical Control of a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, and placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program.

Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in these cases.

July 9

Mark Chun, 29, of Broadview Heights, was found guilty of Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.

Victorine Howe, 62, of Caldwell, was found guilty of Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign. The Court sentenced her to pay a $25 fine.

James McClanahan, 44, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Falsification. The Court sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail.

Daniel Walton, 26, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Theft and one count of Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments. The Court sentenced him to serve 60 days in jail.

Jeff Petrey, 45, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Theft. The Court sentenced him to serve 60 days in jail.

Christopher Olk, 35, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $1,000 fine, serve 365 days in jail, with 335 days suspended, placed him on five years of community control, and suspended his operator’s license for three years.

Judy McCloskey, 60, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced her to serve three days in jail.

Paula Burkhart, 58, of Loudonville, was found guilty of Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Marijuana. The Court sentenced her to pay a $250 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, placed her on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days for the Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle charge and to pay a $150 fine for Possession of Marijuana and suspended her operator’s license for 180 days.

July 10

Kayla Dailey, 27, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension and Operating a Vehicle with Fictitious Plates. The Court sentenced her to pay a $200 fine for the DUS charge and a $75 fine for the Fictitious Plates charge.
