MOUNT VERNON — Online bidding opened on June 27 for surplus items that the county no longer needs. This is the first time the county has tried an online auction.
“When this started out and we decided we would renovate Central School, we needed to get it cleaned out,” said Jason Booth, county administrator. “That led to going through other departments to see what surplus they had. We decided it was a good time to clean everything out.”
Auction items include office chairs, doors, filing cabinets, conference tables, and room air conditioners. The online auction starts to close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, and will have staggered closing times.
The Ruckman Group is serving as auctioneers and will receive 35% of the proceeds. A 15% buyer's premium will be added to the winning bids.
