ORANGE TOWNSHIP -- A Polk man was killed in a motorcycle crash that occurred either Sunday or early Monday on County Road 1175 just north of County Road 1102, according to the Ashland Post of Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say Michael L. Wuthrich, 53, was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle north on County Road 1175 when he failed to negotiate a right curve, went left of center and drove off the left side of the road. There are no known witnesses, so the crash was not immediately reported and investigators are unsure when the crash occurred.
Wuthrich's family reported him missing at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, and family members and first responders traveled the area seeking signs of him along the route he was believed to have taken.
Wuthrich was found dead at around 8:30 a.m. Monday. He had been ejected from his motorcycle, and both his body and his overturned motorcycle were found in a culvert.
In addition to the highway patrol post, Ashland County Sheriff's Office, Nankin/Orange Township Fire Department and the Ashland County Coroner's Office all responded to the scene.
The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors. The crash remained under investigation Monday afternoon.
