MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University instrumental ensembles will present a spring concert on Tuesday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel Auditorium. The concert will feature the Brass Ensemble, Flute Choir, Jazz Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and Woodwind Ensemble. The community is invited to attend this free event.

The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform classic marches and band literature by John Phillip Sousa, Gustav Holst, and Leroy Anderson. They will also present the world-premiere performance of MVNU adjunct professor and local composer Jim Puckett’s “Fantasia” for bass clarinet and wind ensemble which will also feature MVNU adjunct professor Dr. Adrienne Lape as guest soloist.

The Jazz Band will offer arrangements of jazz, pop, and Broadway standards including selections made popular by Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Gordon Goodwin, and Chuck Mangione. The Brass Ensemble, Flute Choir, and Woodwind Ensemble will perform a variety of literature.

The ensembles are directed by Jim Puckett, Douglas Neel, Jennifer Packard, and Dr. Adrienne Lape.
