First Friday will kick off in Mount Vernon with a celebration of agriculture on June 7.

MOUNT VERNON — Main Stree Mount Vernon kicks off the summer season with an activities-packed “Summer Celebration” on Friday, June 7, sponsored by Edward Jones.

Kokosing River Surf Club will bring the heat on the main stage complemented by Yvonne Sanson students on the South Stage E. Gambier Street, sponsored by MTVarts and Herald’s Appliances and Electronics. Start your summer off right at the beach ball bonanza with sand, sun, and fun at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC); enjoy sand art, hoola-hoops and beach ball fun!

WNZR will be in downtown Mount Vernon broadcasting live from 5 to 9 p.m. for June’s First Friday. Just look for Big Blue on South Main Street so you can stop by and register to win a special "Shape Up, Clean Up, Drink Up, Dress Up and Soak Up" prize basket featuring:

Partnering with the Knox County Landmarks Foundation (KCLF), MSMV is bringing a behind-the-scenes look at the downtown Mural Projects. Grab a ride on the tractor and hear John Donnelly, the artist, tell about inspiration, working with the community, and hidden Easter eggs.

“My family always looks forward to First Fridays; there’s just something for everyone,” said Alyssa Lawrence, board member. “It’s so great to run into friends and family and have a great time downtown! It’s truly touching to see the strong and varied community ties in action.”

The First Friday Cruise-In is returning to the outer area of the square for the 2019 season. Sponsored by Storyside Church, this feature, in partnership with Knox Cars and Coffee, brings out the car enthusiast in all of us. Don’t forget to head uptown after checking out the Cruise-In to try your hand at some fun yard games; winners get gift cards! Yard games are coordinated by the Knox County Board of Realtors.

Balloon animals, face painting, and magic tricks, oh my! Rex Naylor, balloon animal artist, and Jimmy Bercham, magician, will be in front of Paragraphs Bookstore on S. Main Street. Face painting by First Church of the Nazarene will be located on the square along with the YMCA, Knox County Knockout and other rotating kids’ activities. Kids’ entertainment is sponsored by Half-Baked Cafe, Knox Community Hospital, and Paragraphs Bookstore

This June debuts Farm Friday, designed to showcase local agriculture and the people who bring it to life. Check out all things agriculture on East Vine Street and the First-Knox National Bank parking lot. Farm Friday is sponsored by First-Knox National Bank and Advantage Ag. Also debuting this June is a pop-up gallery consisting of local art.
