Grumpy Cat

Grumpy Cat has died at the age of seven in Arizona.

GALION -- Grumpy Cat, a feline made famous by a Galion man who first shared her famous scowls on social media, has died.

The Arizona Republic reported Friday that the famous cat, whose countenance was shared by Bryan Bundesen of Galion, died on Tuesday due to complications from a urinary tract infection.

The passing of the cat, whose real name was Tardar Sauce, was confirmed on Grumpy Cat's Instagram page.

"Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people around the world -- even when times were tough," the Instagram post said. "Her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere."

The cat was owned by Tabatha Bundesen and lived in Arizona. Her brother was struck by the cat's perpetual cranky look and posted photos that quickly went viral in memes and also led to books, public appearances and sponsorship with companies like Friskies.

According to the Arizona Republic story, Tardar Sauce, was actually as playful and fun-loving as any cat. Her frozen scowl was the result of a form of dwarfism.

Richland Source left a voice message Friday afternoon for  Bryan Bundesen.
