BELLVILLE — The Bellville Street Fair has announced the return of the “Pumpkin Growing Competition” to its lineup of agricultural contests for the 2019 World’s Fair held in September.

The Pumpkin Competition this year is being sponsored by the Edward Jones Investments, Bellville Branch. Last fall approximately 15 people entered pumpkins into the fair for the competition and winners took home $1,150 in prize money. The contest generated a renewed interest in agriculture, especially with the youth.

The competition is open to all residents of Richland County and the pumpkin itself must be grown in Richland County. A $250 grand Prize will be awarded for the heaviest pumpkin in both the junior and senior divisions. A $150 second place prize and $100 third place prize will also be awarded in each division respectively.

There will also be $50 prizes for closest to weight but not over 25,50,100,200, and 300 pounds so every entry will have a chance to win regardless of size. All entries must comply with the Bellville Street Fair agricultural entry requirements.

New to this year’s competition will be a pumpkin decorating contest with cash prizes as well.

The arts are also a large part of the Bellville Street Fair and what better way to integrate

agriculture and the arts with a fall favorite…pumpkin decorating!
