MOUNT VERNON – 2017 marks the 16th consecutive year for the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival Motorcycle Show & Cruise In. The event, facilitated and sponsored by Mid-Ohio Suzuki-Honda-Yamaha-Kawasaki, will be held on Sunday, August 13th from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Motorcycles of all makes and models are invited to cruise into town to show off their wheels. Five (5) classes of competition – Custom, Touring, Vintage (25 years and older), Trike, and Cruiser, will have the opportunity to participate in a judged show, with a special award for Best in Show.
Day of show registration is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If engines and paint jobs weren’t enough, the EKG will provide live entertainment on the Square beginning at Noon. With a beautiful mix of two part harmonies accompanied by intricate acoustic six string guitar, twelve string guitar, mandolin, electric/acoustic bass, they are the perfect musical accompaniment. In the new South Main area, Project Roundtable will perform at noon and the Shauman Band at 2 p.m.
Returning this year, you can rise and shine with a good old-fashioned Pancake Breakfast. Grace Community Church of Mount Vernon will provide a hearty breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, juice, and milk from 6:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. on the Public Square. A worship service featuring the Frank Boyd Jr. Blues Ministry and Pastor Roger Tickle will begin at 9:00 a.m.
The Motorcycle Show & Cruise-In will be held in the center of the Public Square. Participants should enter from Sandusky Street (SR 13) onto High Street and park as directed by the show staff. This show will be held simultaneously with the annual Antique and Classic Car Show.
The 2017 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival runs August 13th in Downtown Mount Vernon with various activities each day. This year’s Festival is made possible through the contributions of Ariel Corporation and First-Knox National Bank.
