MOUNT VERNON - Do you ever feel like your vote doesn’t count? During the Dan Emmett Festival in downtown Mount Vernon, you can vote for your favorite shelter dog. In fact, you can buy this election. Vote as often as you like, with your wallet.

The shelter dogs that raise the most money will be featured in the 2018 Knox County Shelter Dog calendar, published by the Friends of the Knox County Animal Shelter organization. The dog with the highest dollar amount will be featured on the cover. All donations will go toward needed medicine, medical care or supplies for the dogs at the shelter.

Plenty of qualified candidates will be available to choose from: German Shepherd, Coonhound, even a Beagle, and no doubt a mixed breed or two as well.

Look for the shelter booth outside 121 South Main Street in Mount Vernon, during the Festival, August 10-13, 2017 and come cast your votes.
