Why does NRM do that? He also removed all his post on the sales tax issue. When I write something I mean it and am proud of it, I'd post it on a billboard if I had the extra cash.

PS I do think the libraries are good and took my daughter there many times when she was young. She enjoyed "story time" (about 20 years ago) and they have other good programs too. They did give us (dad mostly)) some nice childhood memories. I guess I would have rather seen it be a sales tax though.

wow - nrm posted last night; his post was removed before now............but he did post that people who don't own property have no right to vote on property tax issues and that they're thieves - and stated that all that accepted such voting results were cowards...........just want to make sure everyone is aware

APA - I don't know how the current library director's salary compares with other library director salaries - but I'm betting it's about the same

In any event, there were many, many library levies placed on ballots across the state of Ohio - and 81% of them passed - it seems that the public library system is still very much a priority in most peoples' opinions (directed to NRM, not you) - am glad this one, and the others, passed, and that the services will remain available........

The library is short by what 2 to 3 hundred thou?? So now the property owners are going to give them a million. I think the libraries are important but come on, an additional $700,000.00. I better not see the head man get a pay raise from his $88,000.00 a year. Thats already about $30,000.00 more than the Sheriff of the county makes...

Kim I'm not disputing that some might pay a portion of the apartment owners property tax . But, I was just on the auditors web site and after checking several apartment houses I know I found most have very low property taxes, for example a house in fredericktown is listed as 3 family dwelling (three apartments) total it is $800 dollars a year total. Another is listed as 1 to 19 rental units, tax per year is 2368.00. My taxes are over 2800.00 per year and I have no kids in school...Why do I have to pay so much? Is it fare to me?
PS I think the library is an asset to the community I'm only opposed to how we pay for it. A sales tax is one of the most fare taxes around, everyone pays it.

I intend to, thanks much. So will many others who don't have the resources in their homes that are provided free by our libraries.................

I was pleasantly surprised to see how many voters found it within their hearts to support the levy - very, very pleasantly surprised - a big thumbs up to all those who cared this much -

I don't mind funding the library if it was a sales tax that all paid. I have and will be against any tax that is solely on one specific group, in this case property owners.

I hate to see property taxes go up again! But although I don't use the library I think it is needed. I don't agree with the person running it making 88K, how much do the employees make? I think it would have been better funded by a sales tax, that way ALL people in the county would be funding it!!! Not the property owners fitting the bill.

I voted for the levy, and I am a properety owner. It's not just school kids that get use out of the library my grandma and her friends all use it . They can't afford books so it's a great place for them they are the reason I voted "yes".

Your welcome. Thanks to all those voters in Knox County that value the services of their public library system.

You are very welcome giantrack. It was our pleasure.

BTW, I am also a property owner and voted for the levy because it was needed by many. So sorry you don't use that fine facility.

MY OPINION ONLY. OTHERS MAY VARY.

Not sure if you still agree..I had a typo..

I meant to say IF we can not afford the whole pie..we may have to settle for a piece of it..or loose it all.

I dont see where the economy is reflecting much better for who knows how long...so we best be real about the budget for long into the future...when/if it improves...we can always do more and different.

Good answer.
