| Just wanting some input on bundling phone, cable and internet services. Currently we have each service separately and are thinking of going with Century Link (formerly Embarq) in a bundle. Each time we contacted them we got a different price. Just wanted to know whether anyone out there has gone with them and if they recommend them. We don't need super fast internet and just want phone service that is dependable and has caller ID and television that carries channels similar to what we now get on TimeWarner. We are interested in getting the BEST price on bundling. What should be expect to pay monthly for this after all fees and taxes (final cost)? |

I have Century Link. I don't have TV with them (which is through Dish Network), I just have DSL and phone service. My bill runs around $80 a month including taxes. That is phone line with all the caller ID, call waiting, 3 way calling, blah blah blah and 1.5 DSL. The DSL could be better. Find it slow at times, but it is consistant. I have had the service for about 2 years and have had little outtages.
I must say though, If Time Warner were to come out my way (I live in a rural area) I would bundle all three services with them. I don't think you can beat their prices for all three services.

| I have Century Link/Embarq and it is good. I took a bundle in April of this year on phone and mid speed DSL and bill runs $70-$80 a month. I don't have dish though as use antenna for TV. Did have a line problem and to the contrary to what I have heard they were here immediately and corrected the problem so I would have to say service is good and their help lines have been useful to a point but wanted me to buy into something called Rescue It for computer help. Charge another $15 for that - of which I did not do. |

Lucylou, do you have the unlimited long distance on your phone package? What kind of reception do you get with an antenna and how many and what channels? Thanks for your reply.! |

Yeah, we have Direct TV and there are so many duplicate channels. Takes some getting used to.

I've been bundled with Embarq/Dish Network since May 2007. I'm not always happy about it because I really don't have any options - Time Warner doesn't cover all the nooks and crannies of the country. That's a price I'm willing to deal with in exchange for the view!
I have the lowest level DSL they offer - we watch Hulu often and rarely have any problems. I used to have unlimited long distance when I lived in Croton. When I moved out here a year ago I wasted hours of my life trying to get the unlimited LD (which was verified over and over and over), but I finally just accepted it. In the end, I'm actually ahead of the game because I really don't make that many LD calls from my land line - the cell phone works just fine for that.
We have had just a couple of problems with our Dish - the wait seems forever for a tech call, but I've gotten credits for the down time. Our phone service out here has had problems. The previous tenants didn't have a land line and the phone line had been cut at the road over 2 years before we moved in when Delco ran the water lines. The wiring in the box on the house was old - it's an old United Telephone box! We finally got them to actually replace some of the wiring because we had static problems every time it rained. There was also a crack in the line about a quarter mile away that was finally corrected.
Our Dish Network Tier is the one that includes Big 10 Network and we pay around $131 a month for the whole package.
I'm also responsible for the unanticipated unemployment of an Embarq CSR a year ago. I write everything down. I was here for 8 hours on the day my phone was to be turned on until I had to go to work. I called when they didn't show by noon and was told they were running behind because of service outages. They had my cell and did not inform me that no one would be arriving to connect my phone. The next morning I was on my cell at 8:00 AM trying to find out what the problem was. My CSR refused to answer my questions and told me to just deal with it. He refused to transfer me to a supervisor and lied about his ID number. When I was finally connected with a supervisor, I got the install for free, learned that "Brian" was no longer with the company, got another credit of $50 because of the hassle and a direct extension for the supervisor. Other than the issue of the unlimited LD never taking effect, I haven't had to contact them since.

| Debbie, I hate it when they don't show up when they are supposed to and don't bother to contact you either.....like your time is worth nothing. Thanks for your reply. |

Stac8 I should have put in my post that I do not have long distance - unlimited was offered but I only have local service and use my cell for any long distance calling. Also the call waiting and answering services were adjusted for me as my husband is blind and I have a set up that he can use with an old answering machince.
I get channels 4-1, 4-2, 6-1, 6-2, 10-1, 10-2, 19, 34-1, -2, -3, 48, 51-1 & 53-1. I am on the fringe and possibly need a booster on my antenna but also have 7-1, -2, -3 and 26-1, -2 sometimes. I just made a post about this on another topic in more detail where someone was asking about Antenna vs Cable. Just off hand cannot remember topic name but was recent. |
