A friend of a friends daughter was attacked at Memorial Park, by several boys the other night, and they broke 2 of her vertrabra in her back...then today her father came over and said another girl was attacked..Has anyone heard anything about this?? I havent seen it in the paper or anything. Mind you these are 17yr old girls.

Unlike the big cities, reports such as this aren't usually made public while the incident is under investigation. Maybe if the MVPD or newspaper read that people are talking about it on a local forum, they might tell the public something.

They should, but unfortunately that isn't the way it works. That is why I am saying, posting on a local forum might draw out some response.

We were at the park yesterday, the city already has the bathrooms locked up even though the Sunday Co-Ed softball will still be going on thru next Sunday.

I wonder if this is why they already locked the bathrooms up.

I could not agree more bmxtahoe. Most towns could use a good one. Where is Paul Kersey when we need him? It's incidents like this (if it is indeed accurate) that make me hope for the day when the uber liberals and their dreams of rehabilitaion are pushed back and we can get on with punishing people for their crimes. Call me cruel, sick, etc., but I worked in corrections and sex offender treatment for 11 years and rehabilitation is by and large an imaginary pipe dream. Say what you want, but unless you've been there, you can't understand.

I didnt know this happened..but I am thinking this explains some things I heard on the scanner the other night...no details....but how officers were watching some things...

I live fairly close to that park...so movement of people many times comes in my direction towards the main roads.

Yes, LE here and in other areas have the idea IF they keep it secret..they will learn more when they investigate..the heck with others safety..havent seen evidence here that works as well as they think...

I pray the girl has a fast and complete recovery...and who did this..is caught..

I have a call in to Capt. George Hartz at the MVPD. He is checking on this and will get back to me later today with details. I will either write a story or post what I learn in this thread.

Thanks!

Let's not make this a liberal vs conservative issue. The point of this post is that a girl was assaulted and for whatever reason the story is not being covered and the question is why??????

Whether offenders while in jail/prison get rehab/treatment doesn't mean diddly squat in this matter. We don't know whether the offenders who harmed her have been in prison before or if this is a new offense.

WHAT DOES CONCERN ME IS..................WHY ISN'T THIS BEING REPORTED!!!!!!!!!! So that the public is protected. WHY DOESN'T OUR NEWSPAPER AND OUR POLICE FORCE MAKE THE PUBLIC AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS THAT EXIST IN OUR COMMUNITY SO THAT WE CAN ALL MAKE APPROPRIATE DECISIONS!!!!!!!!!

jdial30

Thanks for letting us know about this.

I remember several years ago there was a series of attacks that went on within the city. It was covered up pretty much even though there was a public meeting held. It was constantly downplayed and under reported. There's no reason for this to occur.

Apparently the police are too busy busting people for harmless pot. I don't think I've read where a marijuana plant beat up some 16 year old girl. But no, they'd rather terrorize someone that is growing something that mellows out people.

Just responding to a post by bmxtahoe. I disagree however, that the issue is whether or not it is reported in the local media. More important that this type of incident does not occur in the first place. Lack of concern regarding punishment/justice system by these criminals is what allows things like this to keep happening. There is not fear of the ramifications of breaking the law. While I agree that things like this should be reported, I disagree that it is the main issue.
