Well curious, just what you suggest we do when the tax money that does trickle in ISN"T enough to fund government services? Ever heard of The Great Depression? That's exactly where we're headed. We're tapped out with our new best friend China. Obama can only print worthless money for so long. What do think will happen when it all comes to an ugly head? You damn well better be ready!

Incompetent president/commissioner? What the difference, they're both wasting our tax money and running our county/country in the ground.

well, ma'am, if you know how to rewrite the county budget to allow LE to stay in place, along with all other necessary county services, please let the Commissioners know how to do so at your earliest convenience, rather than suggesting that we cut such necessary services to prove a point about not raising taxes like Obama does....

the county desperately needs your insight asap

thanks in advance for any help you might provide to all of us........

Ok I had forgotten "the rest of the story"....at the airport..

There's another incident not covered by the MVNews but by the Columbus Dispatch regarding Commissioner Wise.

The Knox County Airport - Mr. Wise took it upon himself to replace their propane tank (from another business), replace it with his own supply (from his business) and subsequently bill the Airport for his own product. The owners of the Airport were forced to consult an attorney to demand that he return their original propane and remove his.......

All three incidents in question were covered, as I said, by the Columbus Dispatch. Why the MVNews chose to ignore these incidents is beyond me.......but all are substantiated - and we're all aware that there are many stories the MVNews has refused to cover in the past until they hit the Dispatch and were covered around the State.

Claudia,
I agree that some cuts need to be made. If you want to see what its like to cut everything look over to Morrow County, that place that everyone makes fun of. I would support a temporary tax increase if someone can monitor that the commissioners use it properly.

The Prosecutor, the Sheriff and the Courts have stated that they've cut as much as possible - anything more would result in a lack of either law enforcement support, the ability to prosecute, and the ability to hold trials. The increase equates to 25 cents for every one hundred dollars - Given what we're up against, I can't understand why anyone would be willing to take the chance of becoming another Morrow County to avoid paying such a small sum of money...........

that sounds so simple

the reality though is that we need law enforcement and the courts -

you can't cut salaries and perks after you've signed an employment contract, and you can't indiscriminately fire people without setting up the County for a slew of lawsuits - we have enough in process as it is......

"real Americans are done paying?'

That's what they said in Morrow County.........

Yeah - I see people lining up to live in Morrow County, guy

Sure, let's just start firing LE, Court Personnel, etc. Not enough sheriffs to patrol, not enough detectives to look into crimes, not enough court personnel to keep trials running in a timely manner (which of course would result in dismissals of criminal, civil and domestic matters).

where that won't happen to Knox County "tomorrow" or the "next day" - refuse to pay such minimal taxes as 25 cents for every $100 bucks and go around indiscriminately firing people and that's exactly what we'll get, on top of the breach of contract lawsuits and skyrocketing unemployment compensation rates.

Real well thought out there, NRM, if you want to leave the county helpless and bankrupt.

nrm I was raised not to lie cheat or steal, or tolerate those who do. Apparently we have different values. I made the mistake of believing you at your word, this I will not do agian. You do not try to solve any problems, you only insult or enrage people. I feel sorry for you that you can not engage people on a higher level to help solve problems.

This "mess" occurred because the Commissioners spent money they didn't have - what's done is done - unfortunately the residents will have to all take part in cleaning up their mess......most of us I believe feel it wiser to institute the very small temporary tax increase to fix the situation, rather than laying off law enforcement, slowing down the Court systems, breaching contracts and engaging in indiscriminate firings, which would only result in higher unemployment figures and potential law suits, WHICH WE DON'T NEED.

The Commissioners will be held accountable at the polls, beginning next year........people may have short memories, but they're not going to forget the bad judgement and over spending of the current Commissioners before that time. I have no doubt "heads will roll."
