I don't agree that people would be crawling out of the woodwork. That's part of why Freshwater was able to do what he did for so long. How? Children who grew up with Christian faith are not as likely to question things that are said in conjunction with the name Jesus and the Bible with biblical references or questioning anyone in authority who is discussing what they are referring to as Christianity. Those that questioned what he did were "poo-pooed" and nothing happened.

Our school's are still sending groups (be it athletes, cheerleaders, 5th grade classes) for workshops, retreats, competitions, etc. to Christian founded facilities. You see, there's still a belief that what they are doing is right and they don't question things that they are "used to doing". It takes a considerable amount of effort to change a dynamic that has existed in our schools for a long time and most people just don't want to get involved in what it takes to bring all the problems to light. Look at what happened to the Dennis family!

Would you want to go through what they did? I commend them and am grateful for what they did but I don't know many that would stand their ground like they did. It's as simple as that.

So Adam, here's the reality. If the Dennis family had posted what had happened to them on here, you would have deleted it if Mr. Freshwater had called you and said it was false.

The allegation was that a prayer was broadcast over the announcements. That's a far cry from the Freshwater scenario, where most of the major events were allegedly carried out in a classroom.

If Dennises made their allegation on this forum, I don't know how I would have handled it. I'd like to think that I would have done the same thing if Freshwater lodged an objection, and then would have chosen to follow it up with a news story. My goal here is to follow up the allegation with an interview. I will pose the question about the alleged incident during the interview and offer him an opportunity to respond.

In the case of the Dennises, they would have been interviewed for the story, obviously, and input would have been given. This is tough to contrast because we're dealing with anonymous world versus real world.

As I said, it's a tough decision. I'm not asking everyone to praise it or to like it, but it's a decision I made and it's final. I will continue to be a liaison between the candidates and the forum members and will be happy to ask questions of your choosing if you post them.

Well, then you'd better delete every lie posted here about Obama, because there are quite a few. Obviously, I have no problem with you wishing for your guests not to post lies, but I hope you extend this practice beyond local politicians who give you a call.

If someone like Zack Space wanted to give me a call and refute what's being said about him, I'd certainly be willing to act accordingly. Given the nature of the circumstances in this case, I felt it was an appropriate response. If others disagree, that's life. I'll continue to handle things on a case-by-case basis. I have no ties or loyalties to Robert Kirk, either, in case anyone got that idea.

Well, I doubt candidates for national office will be taking on guests of a forum as small as this one. But if your standard is to treat this forum as you would other journalistic enterprises, then all guests should be held to the same high standard--that is, to prove their assertions with adequate sourcing.

What we know about Obama, is all most nil.

If he had a real birth certificate, he would produce it.

He must have been a D- student, can't look at school records.

Did he or did he not go college, under foreign student, scholarship?

Is he half white and half black, yes.

Is he the best teleprompt reader we have ever had, yes.

Is going to replace Jimmy Carter as the worst president ever, probably.

Does know or care anything about foreign affairs, no.

Does he care anything about our troops, no.

Do other counties look at him as type of Punk, they can push around, yes.

To try to up hold his image and ego, which country do you think he will wnat to go to war with, Aferica or a Central or South American Country?

If anyone wants to produce any facts, I would like to see them.

If anyone has worked with Mr. Kirk for any length of time you would know that he would say anything (whether true or not) for his own personal gain. If he becomes elected and has to leave his post as "principal" at KCCC, it will be the best thing for the KCCC.

I don't know if what was deleted is true or not ( I can't imagine someone would make something up that they said it happened to them, as a opposed to saying it happened to someone else they know) but I do know the KCCC has their graduation in a church under the big cross.

Ms Barone's experience speaks for itself

so do Mr. Watson's and Mr Hughes'

Mr Thompson has aligned himself with Freshwater supporters, as shown by Seabiscuit's post - information conveniently "deleted" from the website recently

Mr. Kirk has yet to state a position - however, imho, you're either supportive of the Board's actions in the Freshwater matter, or your supportive of re-instating Freshwater........

No way for Mr. Kirk to refuse to answer that one - because he'dbe making decisions regarding that matter if elected, and we want to know what decisions he'd be making..............refusing to answer the question will also speak volumes..........

The Daubenmire flock threatened to try to have Freshwater supporters elected to our School Board - well, it's election year...........they need to be stopped now.........

STOPPED!!! I thought we have a democratic republic. The voters will decide. Stopped!! I wonder what you would say if those words were used against Mrs. Barone or Mr. Obama? Attacking the messenger and not the message only isolates this niave position. what are you afraid of? A couple of really good men who stand for something? Come ON CM..try to state your position in the arena of ideas not personal condemnation. If this is bothering, wait until this time next year when America makes the correction in Congress.
