the Freshwater camp will probably try for more delays until after the November election - hoping that Kirk or Thompson win a seat or two

what a disaster THAT would be

as far as Freshwater's main legal counsel?

here's a direct quote from Freshwater's Attorney Hamilton while being interviewed on a radio station

Everybody in this world is given an opportunity to be obedient at any given time, and it just so happens that I’ve known for several years prior to this event taking place that God made it very clear that one day I would be arguing about the First Amendment as it relates to His Bible. I’ve known this and I can’t wait to share that with others. But, you know, for anybody that doubts God’s intervention in this particular matter, they simply have to recall chapter 6 in Ephesians and the spiritual battle and the [bounty?] that is being fought. The symbolism is so great in this particular case. Recognize that “fresh water,” of course, represents baptism, and that’s exactly .. that’s John’s last name. There is a .. the opposing attorney in this particular case, his last name is Millstone. All you need to do is go to the book of Luke, and when you take a look at the book of Luke it will say, you know, “It would be better for someone to put a mill stone around their neck than to keep these little ones from me.” Then, of course, the judge’s last name in this particular case, his last name is Shepherd. So you start putting some of the symbolism together just on the names, you start to see some of the unique intervention that God has had in this particular matter.

Not only is Freshwater nutz - so is his attorney - and if Kirk and Thompson support these crazies, they SURE as heck don't belong on the school board.........good gawd

Every American is allowed to speak their mind and have a right to a hearing or trial. The school board got bad advice(legal council) and did not think this through (financial cost & settlement). What agenda? Bad decision by qualified members of the board. Choices have ramafications.

Have you sat in on any of the hearing? I have been to every day but 2 days and based on my observations, the school board DID NOT get bad advice. There has been enough testimony to support the accusations that he did use the Tesla Coil on students and leaving a mark, that he has passed out literature to students that matches literature that can be found on Answers in Genesis.

The delay tactics by Freshwater's attorney are deplorable. R. Kelly has done everything that he has "accused the opposition" for doing (i.e. releasing the names of children, delaying the court hearings). Everything he says the school district is doing, he has actually done himself. It's terrible and he's milking our school district for nothing more than his own self righteousness.

I have friends who initially were supporters of Freshwater when this started. They are all weary and tired of how this has drug on and none of them support his cause any more because they realize that its actually very self serving. Its tragic.

Mr. Freshwater needs to move on.

As opposed to someone else who's agenda is in line with your views?

just "in line" with the laws of the State of Ohio, guy

if Freshwater wishes to share his religious views, he can do so in a parochial setting - NOT in a public one

the guy breached his contract - he taught religion in his science classes - Keib and Mayley covered this up - others ignored it

fire his butt and GET ON WITH IT

please?

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me.

Although the candidates can't discuss current legal issues - I'd like to hear Mr. Thompson's explanation of his activities regarding helping raising funds for whack job Freshwater's defense - and why he believes he should serve on a School Board which believes Freshwater should be terminated for breach of contract- which breach no one can deny

his answer should be interesting

I'm sure there are plenty in the area who find you to be a whack job as well. Don't think for one minute that Freshwater holds a monopoly on the term.

That may well be -

However, I'm not shoving a religious agenda on Mt. Vernon School students - he was - did you READ what h is attorney said? I'll post it again for you

Am sorry Rebo, but I don't want these freaks anywhere the grandchildren I'll have - if they want to spout that craziness - do it in a religious setting - not in the public sector.......

For those interested in reviewing whether or not Kirk is an eligible candidate for the School Board, I found this link to the actual document/decision on Paula Barone's website:

Petro’s opinion, No. 2003-010 reads, “The positions of member of the board of education of a local school district and principal of a school in a joint vocational district that includes the territory of the local school district are incompatible.”

http://www.paulabarone.com/Site/News_Releases_files/2003-010.pdf

It looks pretty clear to me.

The question is: "will another person place this town in a position to have to pay attorney's a lot of money in order to prove something that the law has already established?"..............ughhhhhhhhh!

For those interested, more sessions of the Freshwater hearing have been scheduled. They're Oct 28,29, & 30, Nov 17, 18, & 19, and Dec 10 & 11. It's not clear if all will be needed. It depends on how many more witnesses R. Kelly calls, on whether the Board chooses to put on rebuttal witnesses, and if so, whether R. Kelly will put on response witnesses. But we may be done by the end of this year!

Of course, if it ends with a recommendation against Freshwater that's accepted by the Board, then Freshwater has the option to take it to Common Pleas Court. So this may not end during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

Clockstopper - something I haven't had time to look into, but you might know the answer....

I realize that this nightmare arbitration isn't covered by the school's insurance, as it's not a legal proceeding per se, BUT, once it hits the Court system, won't the insurance cover all subsequent litigation?

Do you know?

My take on the Thompson interview-

1. I don't think anyone stated they had a problem with him being friends with Freshwater- it was the council he is on. He states he has friends who work for him, I doubt his company would approve of him being on a committee to raise money for an employee who is suing his company. That is MY issue with it.

2. BOE is a public office NOT a political office. Political affiliation has nothing to do with BOE election.

3. The statement that he is a Christian, so he doesn't "align" with evolution is very telling to me. Lumping all believers in Christ together is not what he should be doing. I know many "Christian" religions that DO accept evolution, which is contrary to his beliefs. I would have preferred he say His beliefs and evolution don't align. Being Christian has nothing to do with it.

This is, to me ,why religion shouldn't be in our public schools. Which brand of religion do we teach? How about we let the parents decide!
