I heard that the Commissioners were going to be on the radio this morning at 10am to talk about county budget issues, and whether or not they would institute a sales tax increase.
A 1/4% sales tax increase in Knox County would save at least a dozen deputies from getting laid off, plus make all county services be able to return to regular hours and days for the public. A small increase like that can be instituted by the Commissioners without a vote of the people, and can be done right away so that funds are available by the start of the new year.
If you have an opinion about this, please listen to the talk radio and call in with your opinion.

" I am willing to admit that I may not always be right, but I am never wrong."-Samuel Goldwyn, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

Ben,corp America loves population growth you say. How come yer party & it's leader, our 1st undocumented president relentlessly pushes AMNESTY for 10's of millions of illegals? Imports 125000 LEGAL immigrants a MONTH & tries to find'm JOBS while Americans starve? The hispaniard lobby & dimmokritters love of it rules, not corp America(who is increasingly LEAVING America). You left-toids are selling out America & the American worker just to gain a few zillion hispaniard votes following yer relentless amnesties. Air up yer tires dimmokritter----& stay in gas lines behind illegals----MRI lines too after obam0care. Kmow who really LOVES illegals--FARMERS from mostly dimmokritter states. Sell out America for a few bucks saved by cheap labor. Bucks not taxed & sent hame to mexco, etc --up to 50 BILLION a year.Add that to our oil bill to ahabs cause obam0 won't let us drill here---but loans $$$ to BRAZIL to drill & sell the oil to CHINA. A great left-toid shadow is falling on America's future.

Actually NRM I am as fed up with our national leadership (both parties) as you are. The health package stinks and nothing is being done to bring the jobs back home. Small businesses need a break - but neither party is there for them. We`are rotting from within. Glad I am old. Now if I can just keep my home til I die.

the system is rewarding people to have kids they cannot afford - nothing to reward the responsible single hard working person is there? Korporate One World loves population growth - they are the problem - idiots.

Some want to be more equal than others. But I agree that an equal tax (national sales tax) will even the field. And for God's sake, quit giving people bigger refunds than they contribute.

Nrm what do you think about the "Fair" tax. Where there is no federal income tax but everyone pays in sales tax. Anyone who is here, illegal aliens, tourist ect all pay our tax. I heard it would be around 23%. spread the tax burden around and let everyone pay equally.

Oh, bottom line, people who are too gawd dam stupid to create their own wealth in America...to gawd dam dumb to make enough money to buy property, have no business voting....your vote is as worthless as your bank account.

So the power to the rich continues without question, and those who start out with nothing (like most of us did) have no say in changing the continual corruption of those in power? A young, God fearing, tax paying, hard worker who hates the system in place cannot vote because he/she didn't meet your timeline in creating their own wealth to buy property? Perhaps they worked hard to reach your criteria, but fell short because the people in power decided the money belongs to someone else. Some people spout psychobabble in order to attempt to impress others, some do so because of a pent up frustration of some kind. I believe I have witnessed the first who does both.

I like when the powers to be say they are using "grant" money to help complete projects. Where the heck do think grant money comes from? Did they just print it or could it be from State and Federal taxes?
