MOUNT VERNON – Police are searching for more information in the case of a 16-year-old Mount Vernon girl who reported being assaulted at Memorial Park during the evening hours of Oct. 27.
Capt. George Hartz of the Mount Vernon Police Department said investigating officers don’t have much to go on. They saw only minor scratches on the victim, but she complained of back pain and was transported to the hospital.
The girl was also unable to give police a good description of the attacker.
“It’s kind of stalled until we get more suspect information,” Hartz said of the investigation. “To my knowledge there haven’t been any more reports of assaults at Memorial Park or in that area since then.”
Those with information are asked to call 397-2222.
